Guitar Rig
Here is the most up to date list of the equipment used in my live guitar rig.
Live Guitar Rig:
- Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier 3 channel solo head
- Esp/Ltd ec-401 vf electric guitar
- 4×12 cab loaded with (4) 200-watt Electro-voice EVM 12L classic speakers
- Furman SPB-8C Stereo Pedal Board
- Brace Audio DWG-1000 digital wireless system
I run these effects through the Furman board:
Effects Loop (ran to back of mesa [send and return])
- Digitech Hardwire DL-8 Delay/Looper pedal
- Digitech X-series multi chorus pedal
- Digitech X series hyper phase pedal
Daisy chained into front of mesa
- Boss TU-2 tuner pedal
- Dunlop crybaby wah
- BBE Sonic Maximizer pedal
- Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor pedal
I use all stomp boxes along with a channel switcher for the mesa. All of my distortion is generated by the mesa. I’m into using stomp boxes rather than banking effects or a rack setup simply because that’s what I’m used to. I grew up listening to korn, incubus, limp bizkit, and things like that. While I can’t stand by all of my musical tastes of my youth, my way of thinking as a guitarist is derived from the glory days of these bands with their massive pedal boards. Tap dancing around your pedals isn’t for everyone, but I like it alright.
Currently for cables I am running standard guitar store cables but I am in the process of switching them out for higher grade cables like Monster.
I also play with an acoustic setup (mainly at home or in rehearsal). This setup includes
- Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos Mod. Cutaway B classical guitar.
- Countryman DI
I use SKB guitar cases as well as a Hercules guitar stand.
Most of this equipment I stand by, some could use an upgrade. I am pretty proud of it for the most part as I reflect back on what I began playing on. I still have my first guitar (it was a pawn shop guitar with the brand name “cruise” on it) and my first amp (a 1×15 L9 lab series). I doubt I’ll ever get rid of them.
At this time expanding on my guitar rig is not a high priority for me, as I am getting married in October of 2010 and I will need to provide for my future wife and I. Also, my other setups are not developed near as far as my guitar setup is. So if I begin expanding on my gear my attention will first go there so that one setup is not suffering more than another.
